Starting Solds Gift Guide

Travel Utensils

We keep a set of these in our diaper bag and each car so we’re never without a little fork and spoon when we need them. The travel case keeps everything clean (and makes it easy to stash away used ones after a messy meal in the car seat or stroller).

Stainless Steel Plates

We’ve been trying to cut back on plastic, and these stainless steel plates have been such a win. They don’t hang onto that soapy aftertaste like silicone sometimes does, they’re dishwasher safe, and the silicone sleeve with suction cups keeps them from becoming frisbees at mealtime.

Pouch Spoons

Jamie struggled with pouches at first, and these were a total game changer. He can handle most pouches now, but we still pull these out for yogurt-based ones - way fewer spills, way more happy snacking. Great stocking stuffers!

Baby Food Freezer Tray

If you’re dabbling in homemade baby food or just like to portion out leftovers, this tray is a must. It’s compact, easy to pop food out of, dishwasher safe, and perfect for making those “I’ll just freeze a few extras” nights feel productive.

Baby Food Feeder Set

This set includes a smaller freezer tray and two silicone feeders that you can fill with milk, purees, or juice - perfect for teething babies or when they’re under the weather. We also use them with fresh fruit for an easy, no-choke snack they can safely suck on.

Glass Baby Food Jars

These little jars are my go-to for storing leftovers and meal prep for Jamie, and they double as perfect mini containers for salad dressings or sauces for the grown-ups.

Portable High Chair

Our most-used baby item, hands down. It lives at our kitchen island and goes everywhere with us - restaurants, parks, grandparents’ houses, errands. It’s comfy for snacks or just hanging out while I’m cooking, and it’s saved us so many times when places don’t have high chairs.

Suction Bowl and Plate

As much as I love our Tripp Trapp high chair, nothing sticks to that tray - except these. They’re the only bowls and plates that actually stay put long enough for Jamie to get a few good bites in.

First Foods Tracker

This tracker made starting solids so much more fun. You can jot down foods, reactions, and allergies with dry erase markers. It’s part keepsake, part practical log for those early, messy months.

Honey Bear Cup

I swear this cup is magic! This little cup is the reason Jamie finally learned to drink from a straw. There are a bunch of honey bear cups out there but we liked this one because it was silicone and not plastic.

Grape Cutter

It sounds silly but we use this all the time for cutting up grapes, large berries, and tomatoes. It gives me peace of mind that we are being safe with foods that are known for being choking hazards.

Popsicle Molds

These mini pops are just the right size for little hands and mouths. We fill them with breast milk, juice, or water for teething or sick days, and they’re always a hit (especially on those hot Charlotte afternoons).

Bib Set

We love a smock bib in this house! Jamie even puts his arms out when he sees us pull them out of the drawer which is so cute. We pop them into the washing machine for easy clean up - just make sure the velcro is well attached so you don't accidentally trap an errand sock in it!

Puree Spoons

These “pre-spoons” make the first few weeks of solids so much more fun. Jamie loved having his own, even if they sometimes doubled as drumsticks mid-meal. Grab a few sets - you’ll go through plenty between floor drops and toddler experiments.

Training Cup

This cup is so tiny and cute in person! This was easier for Jamie to use than a straw at first because, although we had to hold it for him, he instinctively knew how to drink from a cup by watching us. Now at 15 months we are working on having him drink from it without us having to help hold it steady!
