Splash pad season in Charlotte is a real season. Most of these don't open until Memorial Day weekend (May 23, 2026) and close around Labor Day, which gives you roughly 14 weekends to make the rounds. This post is my running list of every splash pad I know about in the Charlotte area, organized by where it is so you can plan around your day instead of driving across town with a soggy toddler.
Some of these I've been to and reviewed. Most I haven't (yet). I'll keep adding links as I write proper reviews, so bookmark this and check back.
A few things to know before you go:
- Bring water shoes. Splash pad surfaces get hot and slippery.
- Most of these are unshaded. Sunscreen is non-negotiable.
- Hours and opening dates shift year to year. Always double-check with the park before you load the car.
- "Fenced" is a feature, not a luxury, when you have a runner.
Uptown / Center City
First Ward Park — 301 E. 7th St. Across from ImaginOn and 7th Street Public Market, which is the move for lunch after. Opens Memorial Day weekend, 10am–8pm daily.
Romare Bearden Park — 300 S. Church St. Right next to Truist Field, so you can pair it with a Knights game. Opens Memorial Day weekend.
The Green — 400 S. Tryon St. The fish fountain. Smaller, more of a "we happened to be uptown" stop than a destination. Opens Memorial Day.
NoDa / East
Cordelia Park — 600 E. 24th St. Next to the Cordelia public pool ($2 entry) if you want to make it a half-day. Opens Memorial Day weekend, 10am–8pm daily.
Veterans Park — 2136 Central Ave. In Plaza Midwood. Not huge, but the location can't be beat if you live in that pocket of town. Opens Memorial Day weekend, 10am–8pm daily. Watch the reel →
Dilworth
Latta Park — 601 E. Park Ave. Fenced, which is the main reason this one is in heavy rotation for us. Cozy neighborhood vibe, skyline views, and the whole park is worth the trip even before you factor in the splash pad. Opens Memorial Day weekend, 10am–8pm daily. Read the review →
