If you follow us on Instagram, you saw the mullet situation developing. Jamie's hair had officially reached the point where we needed to do something about it. I asked for recommendations, and overwhelmingly, everyone said Snip-Its in Park Road (not the Cotswold location, specifically Park Road).
So one Saturday morning, we took the plunge.
Making the Appointment
Booking online was really easy. The website tells you exactly how much it's going to cost, and you can add on packages. We added the First Haircut Memories package ($6.99), which included a certificate, photos, and some of his hair in a bag. Very cute, very sentimental, very much something I'll find in a box 20 years from now and get emotional about.

The Big Day
Jamie walked into Snip-It's on his own two feet, took one look at all the bright colors and activity, and immediately got overwhelmed. This kid is usually pretty good-natured, but he has a hard time with new things. As soon as we picked him up to put him in the chair, he started crying. Actually, he was crying before he even got in the chair.

But here's the thing. The stylist was completely unfazed.
How They Handle Screaming Toddlers (Spoiler: Really Well)
I was so impressed with how the staff handled the situation. There were two or three people there, and everyone gave us space but also tried to help calm him down. They have TVs playing kid shows, bubbles, stuffed animals, anything you could think of to distract a kid.

None of it worked for Jamie. He was committed to the meltdown.
So I basically just held onto him the whole time while the stylist worked around us. She used regular scissors and was incredibly quick. Snip, snip, snip. Super efficient, super professional, all while dealing with a screaming, tomato-faced baby. It was really impressive.

He managed to stop crying long enough at the end for us to get a couple of pictures. The process was easy. I took the photos on my phone, texted them to her, and she printed them out and put them in the certificate. Really seamless.
At the end, Jamie got a couple of prizes (bath toys, since he's still at the choking hazard age, but they said the toys get better as kids get older). All part of making the experience special, even if he didn't fully appreciate it in the moment.
The Ice Cream Redemption
Since we were at Park Road Shopping Center, we walked right over to Jeni's. It was an unseasonably hot day in December, so ice cream felt like the perfect move. Jamie got the birthday cake flavor, and suddenly, all was forgiven. The haircut trauma? Forgotten. The mullet? Gone.

Now he looks super cute with his fresh cut, and honestly, I'd do it all over again.

Why I'd Recommend It: The staff is patient, experienced with kids who are having a hard time, and they make the whole thing as painless as possible. They've clearly done this a million times. Even when your kid is losing it, they keep it moving.
If you're debating when to get your toddler's first haircut or where to go, Snip-Its Park Road is the move. Just maybe have an ice cream plan ready for afterward.
